Most kitchens have the same three problems: half an avocado with nowhere to go, a drawer full of plastic tubs with no matching lids, and a fridge where leftovers vanish behind the milk. None of them needs a full kitchen refit. A few well-chosen storage pieces can fix all three.

Coopers of Stortford, a Hertfordshire-based homeware retailer, stocks a whole section of kitchen and dining items built around exactly this kind of everyday tidying. Below is a practical guide to the food storage and organiser products we think are worth a look, with prices read from the product pages in October 2026. You can browse the full range at the Coopers of Stortford website.

Start in the Fridge: Fresh Trays for Flat Foods

Round tubs are not much use for a half cheese, a salmon fillet or a sliced avocado. Coopers’ Pack of 2 Fridge Fresh Trays are shallow instead, at roughly 2.5 cm high, 23 cm wide and 30.5 cm long, according to the product page. They come with stretchy lids and are designed for flat foods such as fish, cheese, meats and cut fruit.

Coopers lists them as suitable for the fridge or freezer and dishwasher safe, and says they stack neatly. At GBP 14.99 for a pack of two, with a Buy 2 and Save GBP 5 offer shown on the page, they are a low-cost way to bring order to a shelf.

Stretch Lid Containers for Leftovers and Packed Lunches

Lids go missing. The Set of 4 Stretch Lid Containers tackles that by keeping everything in one nesting set, with four sizes: 170 ml, 450 ml, 850 ml and 1450 ml. Each one has a clip-on silicone lid, so a small pot for dips can sit alongside a large tub for last night’s stew.

The set was GBP 7.99 when we checked, which makes it one of the cheaper pieces in the storage range. Sizes like these also work well for packed lunches, since a snack box and a main meal box can go in the same bag.

Silicone Food Covers: A Reusable Alternative to Cling Film

Silicone food covers stretch over a bowl, a cut melon or a half pineapple and hold on without any plastic wrap. Coopers’ Silicone Food Covers come as a set of four sizes in mixed colours, are fridge and freezer safe, and are washed by hand and reused. They were GBP 14.99 in October 2026.

A set like this tends to pay for itself over time if you wrap food regularly, and it makes it easy to see which bowl holds what, since the covers come in different colours.

    Fruit, Dishes and Worktop Order

Storage is not only about the fridge. Fruit and drying dishes tend to take over worktops, and two more products in the Coopers kitchen section address that directly.

Green mesh fruit basket with lid filled with fruit

The Fruit Basket with Lid is a mesh basket, 21 cm high and 25 cm in diameter, priced at GBP 4.99. Coopers notes that it also works as a colander, so it can be used to rinse fruit and salad before bringing it to the table. The Slimline Stainless Steel Dish Rack is made from 18/10 stainless steel with a drip tray and utensil holder. Coopers says it holds up to 14 plates and measures 45 x 21 x 12 cm, and it was GBP 24.99.

A Corner Shelf for Wasted Space

Corners are the most underused space in many kitchens. The Corner Shelf Unit has three wooden shelves and four hooks, and the product page says it needs no drilling. It measures up to 38 cm high and 43 cm wide and deep, so it fits on a worktop or a counter, and it arrives for home assembly. It was GBP 15.99 in October 2026.

    Delivery and Practical Details

Before you order, it helps to know how Coopers delivers. According to its delivery page, standard UK delivery costs GBP 5.99 and takes 3 to 5 working days, and Click and Collect through Evri is also GBP 5.99. A next working day option is available at GBP 7.99 for orders placed before the cut-off time shown on the site. Coopers does not deliver to the Channel Islands or the Republic of Ireland.

Coopers also says it has been in business for over 30 years and has around 100 staff, with a shop in Bishop’s Stortford. As always with any retailer, read the returns policy on the site before you buy.

How to Organise Your Kitchen in an Afternoon

    • Start with the fridge. Clear one shelf and use flat trays for cheese, cooked meats and fish.
    • Match containers to portions. A nesting set with different sizes covers leftovers, lunches and dips.
    • Swap cling film for covers on bowls and cut fruit you use often.
    • Move fruit off the worktop into a basket with a lid.
    • Use corners and vertical space instead of adding more cupboards.

    Final Thoughts

Good kitchen storage does not have to be expensive. A pair of shallow fridge trays, a nesting set of containers and a few silicone covers can change how you store food, and at the prices listed they are easy to try out. Take a look at the full selection on the official Coopers of Stortford site, compare the delivery options and build a tidy kitchen one piece at a time.
