Nut butter has moved from the health food shelf to the main kitchen cupboard. It goes on toast, into porridge and smoothies, over bowls and into sauces, and the range of flavours has grown far beyond peanut and almond. That makes choosing harder, because a shop can list dozens of jars that look similar but behave quite differently.

This guide sorts the nut butter range at KoRo, a German online food shop, into three simple groups and explains how to use each one. The details come from the shop’s nut butter category as we saw it on 28 October 2026. You can browse the full range on the KoRo website.

The Three Groups: Pure, Sweet and Salty

KoRo splits its nut butters into pure, sweet and salty spreads, and the split is a handy way to decide what you need. The shop describes its pure nut butters as made from 100 percent nuts with no additives. Sweet spreads combine nuts with ingredients such as cocoa, dates or spices. Salty versions are meant for dips and savoury toppings.

    Pure Nut Butters: The All-Rounders

A pure nut butter has one ingredient, so it works with almost anything. KoRo says its white almond butter has a fine, creamy texture that suits smoothies, bowls, desserts or simply bread. The pistachio butter, which the shop calls one of its classics, brings an intense pistachio note and is suggested for creative cooking and baking. The shop also lists brown almond butter, cashew butter, pecan butter, sunflower seed butter, pumpkin seed butter and organic peanut butter.

Texture is another point worth knowing. Natural nut butters are not as uniform as the processed spreads many people grew up with, so expect some oil separation and a thick, spoonable consistency. Stir the jar before use, because the oil in a natural nut butter can rise to the top. Keep the jar closed and follow the storage instructions on the label.

    Tahini: The Savoury Option

Tahini is a sesame paste, and KoRo lists both white and dark organic versions. The shop describes the white organic tahini as an all-rounder for dressings, dips or as a spread. A spoonful turns lemon juice and water into a creamy sauce for salads and roasted vegetables, and it works in hummus.

Sweet Spreads for Breakfast and Baking

The sweet group is where the creative flavours are. The shop’s text highlights the crunchy organic hazelnut cream with cocoa and the almond butter with pumpkin spice. It also lists an organic date and hazelnut cream, which it recommends as a topping for desserts or as a breakfast spread, and an organic almond and tonka cream with bourbon vanilla.

Because sweet spreads usually contain more than nuts, read the ingredient list on each product page, especially if you follow a specific diet.

    Quick Comparison: Popular Jars

The table below shows a selection of nut butters from the category page on the day we checked, with the price shown in the shop and the average rating the shop displays. Prices and stock change often.

    Tasting Sets and Large Packs

If you cannot decide, KoRo sells tasting sets. The organic nut butter trio contains three 250 g jars and was listed at 17.50 EUR, and a deluxe trio was listed at 28.25 EUR. The shop’s homepage also showed a promotion for savings of up to 10 percent on tasting sets at the time we looked. Heavy users can look at the large packs: the shop recommends a 5 kg bucket of hazelnut butter and offers pistachio butter in 1 kg jars and in six-packs.

Multipacks follow the same logic. A pack of six 500 g jars of hazelnut butter was listed at 64.26 EUR, shown as 21.42 EUR per kilogram and marked down from 75.50 EUR. Whether that is a good deal depends on how much you eat, so work out how fast you finish a jar before you buy six.

    How to Choose by Goal

    • Everyday spread: a peanut or almond butter in a large jar keeps the price per kilogram low.
    • Baking and desserts: pistachio or white almond butter gives a clear nut flavour without added sweetness.
    • Dressings and dips: tahini, which blends easily with lemon juice, garlic and water.
    • Treat or gift: a sweet cream or a tasting trio lets someone try several flavours.
    • Trying something new: start with a 250 g jar from a set before you commit to a kilogram.

    Ideas for Using Nut Butter

    • Breakfast: stir a spoonful into porridge, or spread it on toast with fruit.
    • Bowls and smoothies: drizzle on top or blend in for a creamier texture.
    • Baking: use it in cookies, brownies and energy balls.
    • Savoury cooking: whisk tahini or peanut butter into dressings and sauces.
    • Snacks: pair a pure butter with apple slices or celery.

What to Check Before You Order

KoRo is based in Germany, and the shop is in German, so check delivery conditions and the ingredient list in the product page before ordering. Look at the size, the price per kilogram shown next to each jar, and whether a product is organic, vegan or contains added sugar or salt. If you plan to buy regularly, a larger pack or a set usually lowers the price per kilogram, which the shop shows on each listing.

To start, you could pick one pure butter, one tahini and one sweet spread, and see which one disappears first. You can find all of them in the KoRo nut butter range, and look at the shop’s tasting sets if you want variety.
